Start The Bus

One of my favorite pubs (definitely up there in the top ten!) is Start The Bus in Bristol. After a busy day shopping and gallery hunting we popped in last week for a burger to find they were having some sort of an arts and crafts shindig! So we got involved (maybe a little too into it) in making celebrity spoons (which Tess won with her ziggy stardust) and decorating the table. Here are a few pics from the evening.

Up In The Air

This is the final film we made for the film brief.....enjoy!

Look East

My top six cigarette stamps ( I have a lot of these ones) all collected from last summers travels around Eastern Europe.

Just the usual please

Here are my top three beer mats! (top three because I so far only have 3 nice ones but watch this space...)

Snap collective

Took a little trip in to Bristol last week to visit the snap collective gallery. They are a group of 8 illustrators and designers all under one roof not far from Park Street. Amongst other things they share a gallery and a screenprinting studio in which they can sell prints and hold workshops.

I found their electic and brightly coloured work very inspiring, in particular the dog card I bought from their shop (see below) by Abi Barfield.

mind maps

This is my final piece for my book project which I wrote about earlier in this blog. Sadly the images aren't great quality but as you can see it is a giant map of New York screen printed onto japanese tissue paper which then folds down into an envelope ( of which I don't have an image..oops!).

Something a little more considered

Here are a few more shots using my Pentax MG. These ones are perhaps a little more serious.

why this is just the start.....

I picked up 4 rolls of film and dropped off another 5 today after only 3 weeks off from uni. I am going to have to kick this habit or start selling my body to fund it!

These are a series of pinholes and general hazy shots I like. I seem to be really digging extreme bluriness at the moment......

Red Bluff

A little etching I did for a postcard entitled Red Bluff. My concept was the idea of using dressing as a way to pretend to be something your not i.e a man dressed as a woman.

Casiotone for the Painfully Alone - White Corolla

Because if I was a pink bear with an orange cat for a friend and a tiger as an acquaintance living in a forest, I too would roller skate....

Second hand book project

This is my response (so far) to a project in which we had to respond to the contents of a second hand book of our choice. My book was a travel book by Cecil Beaton. This combined with work I have done on maps in the past got me thinking about mind maps and ways to contain your memories from journeys. I am yet to finish it but here are some pictures of the work I have done so far...

Sound To Print

Last term we were given a brief to record a 2 min piece of sound from the centre of Bath and convert the noises we heard into words- phonetically. We then had to place the sounds into a grid and eventually create a codex from this. Here is my finished result. Although you cannot see it very well from these photos, I have screen printed the type on the front cover to give a bit of texture, and I have also screen printed the grid I created for the type in an off white.
